I was looking to get awAy from the delta three hole system that comes with peloton. Replaced the pedals and increased my metrics by 25% immediately using shoes I’d already broken in on an outdoor bike. Now a roommate can ride using normal athletes shoes and I can ride with the shoes I’ve already broken in. NOTE: if your 2 hole shoes don’t have the plate, the included cleats won’t work. No plate is included for attaching the cleats to your shoes.

Shimano builds a high quality pedal and no Shimano pedal has ever given me any trouble. I’ve been using A530 pedals for around 10 years and bought this newer model because… well because they are a newer model. The only difference I can tell is that these pedals have an Extremely light release. Even with brand new SH51 cleats and the adjustment bolt cranked down to maximum there is very little resistance clipping out (or in). The old A530s could get scary tight with worn down cleats so this new “light” release is probably not a bad thing, just different.Six month update: I have come to really appreciate the light release action. I was concerned I might accidentally pull out of them but that hasn’t been a problem for me (don’t use the silver cleats – they do pull out unexpectedly) . I can clip in and out smooth and easy with these pedals which is great for commuting and traffic stops. The flat side is also super grippy with the screw-in studs which you can set any way you prefer. These are a big upgrade to the old 530s.

Pedals are great. Used them yesterday wearing sneakers and had not issues with slipping on the pedals. I can see where it could be an issue if you wore flat bottom shoes. I would buy these again

Best combo pedal I have used. The flat has the hex head screw in grippers that really help hold your foot in place if you are not riding using the clipless side. Unlike some combo pedals, the flat side is well designed and thought out. The clipless side works well and is easy to get in. Overall a very well designed pedal.

These are so good and easy to use that I have considered replacing my Look pedals on my Pinarello road bike…maybe. Look pedals need a lot of attention compared to Shimano in general.Seriously, these are so good the price feels too low. My wife and I are both using them on our mountain bikes and completely happy. She rides over 100 miles every weeks and loves them. I switch back and forth between bikes and I always look forward to riding whit these. Super easy to clip in and out. Solid and secure with plenty of float for mountain biking and older knees.

I absolutely love these pedals. I was hesitant to clip in and also did not want to always have to be clipped in. These pedals are the perfect answer allowing both options and a non slip platform side. I highly recommend them. They clip in and release with ease and I also have not had them release unexpectedly. The one issue is that the black coating is chipping off and I have only ridden on them for five days, around 100 miles total on roads only- no wild mountain biking, just a 65 year old commuting and road riding. Shimano should tend to this cosmetic issue as they are not inexpensive pedals. Other than the black coating coming off, they function beautifully.
